Reishi (also known as “Lingzhi” (soul/spirit) mushroom) is a potent fungus that has played an important role in the traditional healing systems of China for centuries.
It is thought to contain hundreds of bioactive compounds that may help:
balance the immune system
have anti-inflammatory
anti-tumour
sleep-promoting
antibacterial
antiviral
anti-diabetic
anti-oxidative
anti-ageing
anti-ulcer qualities
Common Use:
The most common method of consuming dried reishi mushrooms is to make a tea.
The tea can be prepared by simmering the mushroom in water for about three hours.
Reishi can also be added to soups, which should be simmered for two to three hours as well.
In prepared dishes, they are most commonly used sparingly, as an accent, due to the strong, earthy flavour.
